2 innocent bystanders struck during broad daylight shooting in NYC’s Tompkins Square Park

A 26-year-old man was hit in the buttocks and a 53-year-old woman was struck in the right hip around 12:45 p.m. Saturday, cops said. The shooting took place between the 7th and 9th Street entrances on the west side of the park, police sources said.

EMS transported the victims to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.

Police said the gunfire erupted after two men were arguing and one started to fire “four or five” shots. Officers from the 9th Precinct rushed to the scene to find the stunned, bleeding victims.

There are no arrests. The suspect, believed to be about 5-foot-7 and wearing a black-colored tracksuit with white lettering across the chest, was last spotted running west on 9th Street, police sources said.
